SUMMARY:The Exquisite Gorge Project II: Fiber Arts with Magda Nica
DESCRIPTION:Seattle-based artist Magda Nica’s sculptural artwork is now on display at the Maryhill Museum of Art until August 4\, 2022\, in the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust Education Center. \nHer textile piece is part of Exquisite Gorge Project II: Fiber Arts\, a collective artwork in collaboration with the local community and a designated community partner\, among which ARCS. \nDrawing inspiration from the people\, the landscape and the river\, artists have designed an original fiber-based artwork in collaboration with the local community and a designated community partner.  The different sections\, featuring 13 artists\, will connect to create a large\, 66-foot flowing sculpture with the Columbia River as a central element. \nDeveloped by Curator of Education at Maryhill Museum of Art\, Louise Palermo\, The Exquisite Gorge Project II: Fiber Arts features 13 regional fiber artists working with communities along 220 miles of the Columbia River from the Willamette Confluence to the Snake River Confluence. Artistic Director for the project is artist Tammy Jo Wilson. \nOn Saturday\, July 2\, Magda Nica will be discussing her participation in The Exquisite Gorge Project II: Fiber Arts. Her sculptural textile artwork will be on display in the M.J.
