Gabriela Cociuba was born and raised in Romania. She moved to the United States in her teens. She studied French and international studies at the University of Washington. While in school she traveled in different parts of the world through study abroad programs.

The pictures explore the difference between being a visitor and a foreigner, how we’re influenced by our surroundings and how we perceive them. What is it that creates the feeling of comfort away from home?

This is a party where we’ll meet the young artist Gabriela, enjoy her photos from around the world, with music by Bucharest Drinking Team and dancing by Romanian Folkloric Ensemble DATINA Seattle.
