SUMMARY:Romanian Spring Traditions
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a spring celebration of “Mărțișor” and March 8! \nThe name “Mărțișor” is a diminutive of March (Martie in Romanian). Romanians\, and other peoples from the Balkans\, like to give to their loved ones\, neighbors and coworkers\, a special gift\, a tiny good luck token called “mărțișor”. \nIt is believed that the person who wears the red and white string would enjoy a prosperous and healthy year. Read more HERE  \nThe wearing of “mărțișoare” also coincides with March 8\, International Women’s Day or the traditional Mother’s Day in Romania. \nWe invite children of Romanian heritage for a free creative workshop where they can learn about spring traditions and how to make their own “mărțișoare” and honor their moms in their own special way. \nPlease fill out the registration form for each child. Register HERE \nWe are waiting for you: \nMarch 2\, 2-4pm\nBellevue Library\n1111 110th Ave NE\nBellevue\, WA 98004
